The Power of a Positive Mom Chapters 7 - 9

I have two other posts on this fantastic book. Post 1 and Post 2. I encourage you, strongly, to go back and read these two posts if you haven't. This book has been a real eye opener for me in a few different ways. One as a mother, Two as a friend to my children and husband and Three how I represent God in my daily life.

Chapter 7 ~ Casting Your Cares
Every evening I turn my worries over to God. He's going to be up all night anyway! (Mary Crowley)
This was a wonderful thought! To often we allow our cares to pill up and we normally can't or don't know how to throw it out. God is who needs to help us. Listen to this verse Paul said: "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God will transcends all understanding and guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus." Wow. Your thinking just like I have so many times... If it was only that easy right?? However after some trail and error I really have learned to do this with ease. I had started working on this before I started this chapter. It was taught on at church not long ago and I really felt that God wants us to give it all to him. If we expect him to help with the huge tasks, Then why do we not ask and give him the little things as well? My God is big and he can do it all. I have learned and no I'm not perfect and yes I still worry about things going on however I have felt more comfort giving my cares for my family issues and health for my children over to him. After all He has a plan. I think this is where we have to change our Perspective!! We have to have Faith. After all God wants to prosper his people not hurt them. I have started taking things Day by Day. After all why worry about tomorrow when today had enough!

I will leave this chapter with this verse: Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord, is our Rock eternal. Isaiah 26:3-4.

Chapter 8 ~ Woman of Prayer
So many times as mothers we start our days in a rush or hurried to begin our day and don't take needed time to start our mornings/days with Prayer. I have seen a huge difference in my attitude by taking a moment every morning before my feet hit the floor and my eyes open to say a prayer for my day. Helps get the mind on focus and start in a good mood. So mom's that think your to busy... Stop... Think... Pray... No matter what! If you will start this and try to be consistent it will become a habit for you. A study shows it only takes 21 days to develop a new habit. Then your prayer time will be a habit instead of a burden. I think this prayer time gives me the power to be a better and more positive mom. So many people just act as if prayer takes to long. Stop and imagine how different our lives would be, homes could act and overall how our nation could be if everyone would just understand a few minutes with God is all it takes to really help with your troubles and get your heart right. Time spent in prayer is never wasted!

In the book this prayer is published and its so funny I just have to share it with you:

Dear Lord, So far today I am doing pretty well. I haven't screamed at the kids or thrown anything in a burst of anger. I have not grumbled or gossiped or whined. I haven't been greedy or self centered. I have not yet charged anything to the credit card, and haven't pigged out on the chocolate cake in the refrigerator. However, in a few minutes I will be getting out of bed, and I am going to need your help to make it through the rest of the day. Amen.

Chapter 9 ~ The Ladies Pity Party
This chapter was interesting to look at how many times in my own life I might get upset with "how things are going". Instead here again its all about your perspective! We have to maintain focus daily with God. We have to check our hearts daily. OR WE WILL HAVE A PITY PARTY! Us homeschool mothers understand this better than anyone I think. Some days are so much harder than others. I know its not just at my house, Don't even pretend it is! LOL. I think the secret to NOT having a pity party is to be content. "Constant complaint is the poorest sort of pay for all the comforts we enjoy. Benjamin Franklin". However its one of the easiest things to do... You really have to try hard on this one. But our children will help us because how many times do they have a "pity party" and you get so aggravated with them over it. There is where you should stop and pay attention to every move. Then you will be able to see yourself threw them. At least that is how I have been able to do the last few weeks. I don't want to be a "downer" or "unhappy" about something in life. I want to teach my kids that no matter what happens - God has done that for a reason and you need to be happy threw him in it.

Hope you all enjoyed these chapters! I sure did. Have a wonderful rest of the week!!

Thanks Kayla,
I needed this today. Since I have re-dedicated my life to Jesus I have felt so much better and I needed reminded that I need to constantly turn my thoughts, burdens, worries over to God. He is in complete control.
