Clouds Unit Finished
We have been working on a Cloud Unit since week 2, meaning we have spent 2 and a half weeks on Clouds. The main idea of our unit was to learn the 3 main types of clouds and be able to identify them on a daily basis. Our "meat" of the unit was from Simple Schooling(the science curriculum you all helped me win).
So here is a journey through picture:
The kids watched the online video teaching session spread out of several days. Then we read several books on clouds and the water cycle.
Next we made a mural on our wall. We labeled the entire paper from top to bottom with the 3 main cloud heights in the sky and then decorated the mural. The kids used cotton and markers to make the clouds as they would appear if your looking at the sky.
This was an experiment that we performed to make a cloud in a jar. First try wasn't a success however the second time worked like a charm. You can see the cloud coming out of the jar.
Then the kid's became a Cloud Inspector.
They really have enjoyed these cards that a friend made. They have used them almost daily to run outside to see what clouds they can find.
I really think they enjoyed this unit. It's the first of the year and I think our timing went well too.

Saturday Fun
DD and I finally had the blessing of having a day to ourselves! She really enjoys when its just the 2 of us girls. So knowing and being able to prepare for this was a wonderful treat for us both. First I thought of the season changing because DD loves to make items - crafting is natural to her cause I enjoy it greatly.
So I choose a craft that I knew would make her happy. Friday while doing some errands we ran by Micheal's craft store and I asked her to pick out some flowers, She was totally confused on why in the world I was wanting that from her... Next I asked her to pick some leaves to go along. Needless to say she was overly excited on what the flowers was for.
This was her creation after she was told what I wanted from her Saturday morning.
It makes our table look wonderful. Fall is my favorite time of year and I must say I am trying to teach her to love it too!
Next was baking! Yes baking... How can you say its Fall with out a Pumpkin Pie???
You can't in my house!
YUMMMMMMMMMMM...
Great day with my baby girl.

Homeschool Group was wonderful this week. This was our first week. I am teaching a Verbal Math class(30 mins) for ages 5-9. My 2 smallest are in this class. I am also teaching a class called "Lets Build Some Character" which again is for ages 5-9(30 min). Our group struggles to provide to my smallest ages so I tried to fill that gap for myself and the others. My smallest 2 are also in this class. All 3 kids are taking PE. DS1 is taking a Art Fundamentals class. We all had a wonderful time. The kids in my classes seem to have had a blast!

Greatest Artist Study - Picasso
This year we added a wonderful artist study from Confessions of a Homeschooler to our schooling. We ordered the neat books she recommended with this unit and gathered all supplies needed. The actual curriculum is free through her site. So go on over and check her wonderful stuff out. BTW we are also using her Road Trip USA and its equally as fabulous! Erica is Amazing!!
So the first artist was Pablo Picasso
This book is so neat to read through. Its lively enough to keep my kids attention and thats something I worry about for my smallest. However we didn't have any issue.
We learned many interesting facts about his life from small childhood through out his adulthood. We learned and explored his methods and even had some fun ourselves with painting and being an artist! We talked about how looking at pictures you could get a good idea of how the painter felt at the time of painting or drawing of the masterpieces.
The kids choose "The girl in the mirror" to paint in their idea!
We are learning about history in a very fun way. My kinda way!
